Biographical data
Strémben (Strem Burgenland) vagy Szombatfán (Sumetendorf, Burgenland) született. egy tíz gyermekes család legidősebb gyermekeként. Már korán érdeklődött a papság iránt, 1912–ben vették fel szaléziak bécsi kollégiumába. 1915–ben, hogy ne kelljen bevonulnia a kollégium vezetője papnak öltöztette, s elküldte a novíciátusba. 1916–ban tette le első fogadalmát. Teológiai tanulmányait Foglizzóban és Torinóban végezte, ez utóbbi helyen 1923–ban doktorált. 1923. november 18–án szentelték pappá. 1934–ben látogatott haza Magyarországra, amikor is súlyosan megbetegedett, s Szombathelyen az Annunziáta-nővérek ápolták. Ezek közül öten csatlakoztak missziójához és ápolók lettek Baziliában. A Pio Negro Prelatúra koadjuktor prelátusa lett, s egyben Podalia címzetes püspöke 1949. december 19–én. Püspökszentelésére 1950. máricus 19–én került sor. Humaitá püspök-prelátusává nevezték ki 1961. augusztus 5–én, de rövidesen elhunyt. Kifejezetten szívügyének tekintette a bűnbocsánat szentségét, valamint a papnevelés, különösen az esetleges késői hivatások felkarolását. Bevezette a rendszeres, órarend jellegű hitoktatást. Halálát angina pectoris okozta.
