Biographical data
Papi családból származik. Felesége Csucska Erzsébet (más forrás szerint Andrea) volt, akit 1881. március 3-án vett feleségül. Az ungvári püspök 1881-ben szentelte pappá. Felesége nyolc hónappal a házasságkötés után elhunyt. Egy gyermekük született Mária. 1889. március 3-án érkezett az USA-ba, ő volt az első letelepedett görög katolikus magyar származású pap Észak-Amerikában. 1904-től egyházmegyei tanácsos, a görög katolikus egyházi ügyek referense. 1913-ban kinevezték az amerikai magyar görög katolikusok vikáriusává. Több templom létrehozásában közreműködött: Wilkes Barre, PA (1888), Passaic, NJ (1890), New York, NY (1890), Leisenring, PA (1892) ezen kívül Trenton, NJ, Streator, IL, Hazleton, PA, Scranton, PA, Johnstown, PA, Homestead, PA, Braddock, PA USA településeken. Mivel másodszor is házasságot kötött felfüggesztették. 1916. július 30-án átlépett az orosz ortodox egyházba, ahol szerzetes lett. Egy nappal később archimandritának nevezték ki. 1916. augusztus 15-én a pittsburghi ortodox vikáriátus vezetője lett és püspökké szentelték. Az ortodox egyházban nyolc évet töltött, majd 1924. május 12-én kérte XI. Pius pápát, hogy fogadja vissza a katolikus egyházba. Egyházjogi helyzete 1924. május 15-én rendeződött, amikor is nyilvánosan bocsánatot kért, s bocsánatot nyert. Ezután a Garrison-i római katolikus kolostorba vonult vissza. Szentszéki tanácsos volt a Pittsburgh-i római katolikus egyházmegyében. Hirtelen halt meg Trenton, PA-ban. Sírhelye is itt található.
