Biographical data
Szülei Balás László banktisztviselő és Borbély Mária. Zircen lépett a rendbe, 1948. augusztus 29-én. Első fogadalmát 1949. augusztus 30-án tette le. A szerzetesrendek felszámolása után disszidált. Örökfogadalmát 1954. január 2-án tette le Casamari-ban Zircre szóló stabilitással. Stams, Ausztriában 1954. június 29-én szentelték pappá. 1962-től Rómában a Szent Anzelm egyetemen tanult filozófiát, és doktori címet szerzett. Később két évig tanított a római Szent Anzelm egyetemen. Tagja, majd 1982 – 1984 között elnöke volt között a North American Patristic Society-nek. Sírja Irving, TX-ban, a ciszterci kolostor kriptájában van.
