His mother’s name was Mária Lukács. He studied with the Piarists in Vác, then served as a clerk’s apprentice in his native village. He entered the Pauline Order in 1935. He was ordained a priest in Pécs on January 28, 1940. He was arrested on March 23, 1951, and was the eighth defendant in the Grősz trial, charged with the following: “He played a leading role in the illegal activities of the Pauline Order. He facilitated the defection of three monks and prepared false identification documents for them. He maintained illegal contact with Rome through the Italian embassy. He was aware of the murders committed by Ferenc P. Vezér and his associates. He harbored Vezér and several other fascists for a long time in the Rock Chapel and other buildings of the Order.” He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, released from Vác in 1956, and left the country at that time. He was killed in a car accident while traveling to New York, NY, to perform a novena at St. Stephen’s Church. Five cars collided in the accident; five people died and seven were seriously injured.
