Biographical data
He was born in Hungary; his father’s name was Ferenc Csík, his mother’s was Júlia Bakos, and he had seven siblings. After completing his military service, he studied law. He arrived in the United States on November 5, 1922, aboard the steamship America; he listed his occupation as “student” and named his brother István as the person he was visiting in the United States. He became acquainted with the Salesians in the United States and entered the order in 1925. He took his perpetual vows in the Salesian order in New Rochelle, NY, on August 5, 1926. He was ordained a priest there on September 24, 1932. For several years, he served as a house superior and director. There is no record of his involvement in Hungarian pastoral work. As was his custom, he went to pray before the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where he fell ill and suddenly passed away.
