Biographical data
His father was János Csurgovics, a priest and vicar of the Diocese of Munkács; his mother was Teréz Juhászovics. He pursued his theological studies in Uzhhorod. On January 7, 1886, he was ordained a priest by János Pásztélyi Kovács, Bishop of Munkács. He remained unmarried throughout his ministry. He arrived in the United States on December 20, 1892, aboard the steamship Columbia. He was elected to the governing council of the American Hungarian Association in 1906. He returned to Hungary after 1910.
