His parents were István and Teréz Demetzky; he had one sibling. He was ordained a priest on December 19, 1953, in Cleveland, OH. He has been a member of the Árpád Academy since 1994. He was a collector of Hungarian folk art and established a small museum at the parish, where he displayed linen, embroidery, and decorative arts. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, OH.
