His father was Father Bálint Balogh, and his mother was Irma Irén Bacsinszky. He pursued his theological studies in Uzhhorod. His wife was Irma Tabakovics. He was ordained a priest on September 28, 1890, by János Pásztélyi Kovács, Bishop of Mukachevo. From 1894 onward, he served in the United States, sometimes as an Orthodox priest and sometimes as a Catholic priest. According to some sources, he served in the Orthodox Church between 1897 and 1907, but he later returned, as he died while serving as the parish priest of the Greek Catholic parish in Cleveland. He was described as a great, true Hungarian and a genuine spiritual leader.
