Biographical data
He began his seminary studies at Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and completed them in Albany, New York. He was ordained a priest on May 22, 1965. He spoke Hungarian fluently.

From 1968 to 1971, he served as chaplain for the Pomperaug Council of the BSA, and during his many years of service with the BSA’s Connecticut Yankee Council, he received numerous awards. He retired on January 15, 2014. He was a Scoutmaster and chaplain for the Knights of Columbus.
