Biographical data
His father was Elek Bendász, a priest, and his mother was Ilona Bukovszky. He pursued his theological studies in Uzhhorod. His wife was Margit Szabó; they had six children. He was ordained a priest on December 16, 1900, by Bishop Gyula Firczák of Munkács. He resided in the United States from 1905 to 1910. He served as honorary dean beginning in 1921.
