His religious name: King Saint Stephen. His mother’s name was Mária Torma. He entered the Piarist Order in Vác on August 27, 1940. He took his perpetual vows on July 27, 1945. He was ordained a priest on July 7, 1946. He completed his studies at Pázmány Péter University, then earned a master’s degree in Latin and German at the Piarists’ Calasantinum in Budapest. He left the country in 1949, stayed in Austria until 1958, and then moved to the United States. He became a U.S. citizen in 1963. A scholarship in Devon, PA, bears his name.
