Biographical data
His father was a mechanic. He began his studies at the Cistercian high school in Eger in 1891, but had to interrupt his studies several times due to financial difficulties. He was ordained a priest in 1905. In 1911, he left the priesthood, then in 1921 asked the Archbishop of Eger to reinstate him to priestly service. During this time, he served as a civil servant in Budapest. Following the Archbishop of Eger’s positive response, István Soós took him with him to Canada in 1921 to serve as a priest. He obtained Canadian citizenship in 1931.
He died of stomach cancer; his grave is located in the Esterhazy, SK, Nagyboldogasszony Cemetery.
