He grew up in Szob and later in Gödöllő. He graduated from the Buda Teacher Training College and completed his seminary studies in Vác and Nyíregyháza. As a seminarian, he also completed the cantor program.
He was ordained a deacon in Máriapócs on August 19, 2002, and a priest in Máriapócs on April 27, 2004. He is a married pastor; his wife is Bernadett Kotrányi, and they have four children. He arrived in the U.S. in 2021 to serve in a multi-ethnic parish in the Cleveland area and among the Hungarian community. He is the first married pastor to arrive in the U.S.—officially, sent by a bishop—in roughly 100 years.
