He was born in the United States to Viktor Suba, a Greek Catholic priest, and Anna Demjanovics. His wife was Anna Fankovics, the daughter of Endre Fankovics, a priest, and Erzsébet Komporday.
He completed his theological studies in Uzhhorod. On July 12, 1939, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Sándor Sztojka of Munkács. Following the Soviet dissolution of the Greek Catholic Church, he renounced his faith on March 11, 1949, and continued his priestly ministry within the Orthodox Church. From 1949 to 1967, he served in Tiszaszirma, and thereafter in Fancsika. According to his ecclesiastical biography, he revoked his apostasy on July 16, 1956. The circumstances surrounding this, as well as what changes it entailed in terms of his actual canonical status and ministerial position, remain unclear for the time being.
