Biographical data
He was born into a family of clergy and completed his studies at the seminary in Eperjes. He was consecrated as bishop of the Diocese of Eperjes on August 28, 1906. In 1908, he emigrated to the United States. In the 1920s, he converted to the Orthodox Church. He was a married pastor; his wife, Jolanda Molchany, passed away on May 28, 1937, and he was consecrated bishop as a widower on September 18, 1938. He was the first bishop of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church and was appointed metropolitan in 1965.
