He was a student at Highland Park High School and later served in World War II. He studied for a few years at Niagara University, then became a student at the Greek Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh. On March 21, 1965, he was ordained a priest alongside Péter Kerényi. He retired in 1994 and spent the final years of his life in Florida, serving as an assistant pastor.
