In the early 1970s, he frequently traveled from Budapest to Pécel to visit Father András Halász, and the time he spent there had a profound effect on him. He had originally wanted to become a Discalced Carmelite, but the political situation made this impossible, so he requested admission to the Diocese of Vác. He began his seminary studies in Eger in 1977 and later graduated from the Academy of Theology in Budapest. He was ordained a priest on June 19, 1982. In 1991, he was suspended for health reasons; during this time, from 1991 to 1993, he served in Germany, where he met an Argentine bishop who invited him to his diocese, but he returned home at that time and became a parish priest. He served in Peru from 2003 to 2021, after which he returned home.
