Biographical data
He served as a volunteer in World War I and was discharged as a wounded reserve first lieutenant. He attended seminary in Szombathely and Esztergom. He was ordained a priest on December 17, 1921. He arrived in the United States in 1929. For many years, he served as president of the Hungarian Catholic League. From 1945 to 1947, he organized and directed clothing shipments to Hungary, and after 1956, he continued to organize relief efforts as well as emigration to the United States. He was one of the directors of the American Hungarian Federation. Cardinal József Mindszenty visited his grave during his pastoral visit to the United States, as Father Gáspár had been his assistant pastor in Zalaegerszeg.
