Biographical data
He continued his theological studies in Máriapócs (1868–1873). In 1889, he emigrated to the United States. In 1896, his church was attacked by robbers. Gulovics confronted them with a revolver. A fierce struggle ensued, during which Gulovics suffered serious injuries and was eventually forced to surrender. The robbers ransacked the house, obtained the keys to the church treasury, blew up the safe located there with dynamite, and stole its entire contents.
