Biographical data
His original surname was Handlovits. His parents were Imre Handlovics, a retailer, and Mária Emília Mohoilovits; he had four (according to Beke, three) siblings. He studied theology in Esztergom and was ordained a priest on November 21, 1919. During his studies, he also mastered German and Slovak. From 1935 to 1940, he studied the life of Hungarian communities in the United States. In 1946, he became an archiepiscopal councilor. He passed away at the Széder út Hospital; his grave is located in the Óbuda Cemetery.
