Biographical data
His family emigrated to the United States in 1904. He was the brother of István Loya. His wife was Erzsébet Homicskó (d. 1953); their children were Marie (1924), Magdaline (1925), Martha (1926), and Joseph (1928). He completed his theological studies in Allegany (St. Bonaventure Seminary) and in Uzhhorod (1921–1923). Antal Papp, Bishop of Munkács, ordained him as a priest of the Diocese of Hajdúdorog in Uzhhorod on November 5, 1922. Immediately after his ordination, he returned to the United States.
