He completed his high school studies in Rozsnyó and Eger, and his theological studies in Eger. He studied philosophy in Budapest. He arrived in the United States on the steamship Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse on July 5, 1906. He listed Eger as his last place of residence in Hungary and his age as 29. He spent only a short time in the United States.
