Biographical data
His parents were Károly Mihalik, a tobacco tax official, and Cecília Irmler, a homemaker. He studied theology in Vienna as a student at the Pázmáneum. He was ordained a priest in Esztergom on June 13, 1943. He has been on sick leave since 1960. During this period, he engaged in family ministry, organizing a community of large families, young women feeling a calling to the priesthood, and catechists. In 1963, he left for West Germany, and then emigrated to the United States in 1968. The Hungarian State Security Service—erroneously—listed her as a Benedictine teacher. She passed away after a long illness. Her ashes were interred in her parents’ grave in plot 95 of the New Public Cemetery.
