Szülei vitéz Kereszty Ödön alezredes és cserei Csighy Margit tanítónő. Gimnáziumi tanulmányait a budai ciszterci gimnázumban kezdte, majd ennek államosítása után a budapesti Petőfi Sándor Gimnáziumban folytatta. A ciszterci rendbe titokban 1952. február 10-én lépett be. Az Eötvös Lóránd Tudományegyetemen szerzett könyvtáros diplomát 1955-ben. Ezután Mezőkövesden volt könyvtáros, miközben titokban rendi képzése is zajlott. Első fogadalmát 1953. február 12-én tette le. Az országot 1956-ban hagyta el. 1956 – 1963 között Rómában, a Pontificio Ateneo Sant’ Anselmo-n teológiai doktorátust szerzett. 1960. szeptember 18-án tett örökfogadalmat. Franz Žak st. pölteni püspök magánkápolnájában 1960. október 2-án szentelte pappá. 1963-ban az USA-ba költözött, ahol haláláig tartózkodott.
