Biographical data
His name appears in newspapers as János De Gyarmathy. In 1910, he converted from Lutheranism to Catholicism and then studied theology in Székesfehérvár. He was ordained a priest on June 12, 1914. In the 1930s, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Veszprém. He received U.S. citizenship in 1955. After 1956, his community took in hundreds of families, and he himself raised five orphaned children at the parish. He was murdered—his body was found stuffed into the trunk of his car and strangled near Colorado Springs, CO.
