His chosen religious name was Saint Francis of Assisi. He entered the order on August 27, 1931, in Vác. He took his perpetual vows on September 15, 1935. He was ordained a priest in Budapest on June 12, 1938. He earned a teaching degree in German and Latin, and then received his doctorate in 1938.
