A Benedictine monk, priest, teacher, and Hungarian Scout leader. After graduating from high school, he applied for admission to the Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma. He entered the order on August 6, 1942, took his simple vows on May 13, 1944, and his solemn vows on May 13, 1947. He was ordained a priest on June 27, 1948. From 1948 to 1949, he served as student chaplain at Pannonhalma, then left for abroad in 1949. He continued his studies in Austria and Switzerland and arrived in Brazil from Fribourg. Beginning in 1951, he worked as a high school teacher and assistant caretaker in São Paulo. He became involved in the youth and educational life of the Hungarian émigré community: he taught at the Saturday Hungarian school, and in 1952 he founded the 25th St. Imre Hungarian Boy Scout Troop, of which he became the leader. On September 24, 1958, at the age of only 34, he died in São Paulo as a result of medical malpractice; he was the first member of the Hungarian Benedictine community in São Paulo to pass away. In his memory, the Hungarian Scout Park in Embú, near São Paulo, was named the Bálint Simon Scout Park.
