Biographical data
He entered the Franciscan Province of St. Mary in 1936. Beginning in 1938, he studied at the Antonianum in Rome. He was ordained a priest on July 13, 1941, and earned his doctorate in philosophy in 1945. After World War II, he remained in exile. Between 1945 and 1957, he served in Genoa, where he also worked in the Hungarian department of the Pontifical Relief Committee. From 1951 to 1952, he was the publisher and editor of the émigré journal *Szent István Népe* (The People of St. Stephen), and he also published in other Hungarian émigré newspapers. In 1958, he moved to Argentina, and around 1961–1962, he was appointed Hungarian pastor in Venezuela.

He became one of the most respected pastors of the Hungarian community in Caracas. He played a particularly significant role in helping the poor and the disadvantaged, and he also regularly visited Hungarians living in other cities in Venezuela. During his tenure, Cardinal József Mindszenty visited Caracas in 1975.
Ede Dömötör OFM was greatly loved and respected within the community. According to recollections, he likely passed away on April 9, 1976, in Caracas as a result of overwork. A portrait of him by László Kay, which the community placed there in gratitude, can still be seen today at the Hungarian House in Caracas.
