Biographical data
His two brothers, István and Balázs Jaschkó, were also Jesuits, and his sister Hermina, who passed away at the age of 107, was a nun in the Society of the Sacred Heart. He had eight siblings in total. He entered the novitiate of the Slovak Province in Rózsahegy on July 30, 1937, but in 1938, when Košice returned to Hungary, he transferred to the Hungarian Province and was sent to Manréza, where he also completed his studies in rhetoric. From 1941 to 1943, he studied philosophy in Košice, and from 1943 to 1946, he served as a boarding school supervisor in Pécs. He left the country in 1946. He completed his theological studies in Enghien, Belgium. He took his vows there on February 2, 1947. He was ordained a priest on July 25, 1948. He lived in Canada from 1950 onward. Due to his worsening illness, his right hand had to be amputated in 1958; at that time, he received special permission from Rome to celebrate Mass with his left hand. I was unable to find a photo of him as an adult, but a childhood photo of him can be found in an article about his family.
