He graduated from high school in Szolnok and entered the Franciscan Order on August 29, 1932. He took his perpetual vows on August 30, 1933, and was ordained a priest on September 10, 1939. He was sent to Rome in 1941 to pursue his studies. His dissertation, written there, was destroyed due to the events of the war, so he had to write a new one. After the Soviet occupation, he was unable to return home, so he lived and taught in Naples. In 1962, he emigrated to the United States, though he had already spent short periods of time in the country on several occasions prior to that. After the dissolution of the Kapisztrán Custody, he joined the Holy Name Province.
