Biographical data
Mihály Herre, S.J., was a Hungarian Jesuit priest originally from Nitra. In the first half of the 18th century, he worked in the Chilean missions. He participated in the construction of the Jesuit college in Concepción and served among the Jesuit missions in Chile. During the same period, the Hungarian Jesuit missionary Márton Hedry was also active in Chile. Mihály Herre died in Santiago de Chile in 1737. His exact year of birth is unknown; he was likely born in the early 1690s in Nitra or the surrounding area.
