Biographical data
Before joining the order, he entered military service at his parents’ request. He served as a cadet and then as an officer candidate. By the end of World War II, he had ended up in Germany, from where he returned home in 1946. He joined the order on August 14, 1947. He left the country in 1949. In 1950, he studied languages and literature in Pullach, then studied philosophy in Löwen from 1951 to 1954. He earned his master’s degree in Mons from 1955 to 1956, then went to Argentina. He was ordained a priest in Buenos Aires on December 12, 1959. In the early 1970s, he moved to a slum with two fellow members of his order. In May 1976, a far-right military unit kidnapped him and took him to an unknown location. He was held captive for five months. From 1979, he lived in Germany, where he led retreats. From 1982 to 1984, he served as a tertianship instructor in Berlin. From 1988, he lived in Gries, where he continued to lead retreats. He returned home already seriously ill and spent his final years at the Edith Farkas Catholic Nursing Home in Budapest. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary. His ashes rest in the columbarium of the Jesuit Church of the Sacred Heart in Budapest.
