Biographical data
His original surname was Stiglicz. His parents were István Monostori and Mária Pospis. He completed his high school studies at the Kossuth Lajos Realgymnasium in Pesterzsébet. He entered the order on August 27, 1937. He took his first vows on August 30, 1938. He completed his theological studies in Zirc, while also earning a degree in mathematics and physics from the Pázmány Péter Royal University of Sciences in Budapest. He took his perpetual vows on January 4, 1944. He was ordained a priest by Bishop József Mindszenty of Veszprém on May 16, 1944. He fled to the West during the great Cistercian exodus of 1950, where he became prefect of the successful refugees. He arrived in New York on December 24, 1952.
In 1964, he earned a doctorate in physics from Fordham University, a Jesuit institution in New York, NY.
His grave is located in the Cistercian mausoleum in Dallas, TX, USA.
