Biographical data
He joined the order on August 6, 1936. He took his solemn vows on June 28, 1941. He was ordained a priest on June 21, 1942. He arrived in the United States on May 11, 1949, aboard the Queen Elisabeth. During his stay in the United States, he took the name Elred Andrew Rowney. He received U.S. citizenship in 1954 and left the order that same year. On November 19, 1964, the Holy See released him from his monastic vows and restored him to lay status. On December 24, 1954, in Montreal, MB, Canada, he married Lilly Teréz Lukács, a Catholic, Hungarian-born Canadian citizen and cosmetologist, in a Reformed church. At that time, he declared himself to be unaffiliated with any church and listed his occupation as a university professor. Around 1973, he was living in Woodside, NY, USA.
