He was consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of Csanád on March 22, 1936. He entered the Society of Jesus on September 6, 1937. He completed his novitiate in Manréza, then began his studies in philosophy in Budapest, which he completed in Košice. From 1941 to 1943, he refreshed his theological knowledge in Rome. He left Hungary in 1948.
