A Hungarian Jesuit priest, philosopher, university professor, and missionary who served in Latin America for nearly three and a half decades. He devoted his academic career to teaching the history of philosophy, metaphysics, and Catholic social teaching, primarily at Jesuit institutions of higher education in Brazil. He was one of the most prominent scholars among the Hungarian Jesuit émigrés.

He was born on November 12, 1912, in Szederkény. After completing his high school studies, he entered the Society of Jesus at the Manréza College in Budapest. After his novitiate, he studied the humanities, then studied rhetoric in Szeged between 1934 and 1935. He continued his philosophical studies in Budapest, after which he served as a master of studies in Kalocsa in 1937. From 1939 to 1942, he studied theology in Szeged, where he was ordained a priest on June 22, 1941.

After World War II, from 1946 to 1947, he served as a professor of the history of philosophy at the College of Theology in Szeged. Because of his teaching talent and scholarly expertise, his superiors in the order sent him abroad for further studies.

In 1948, he went to Rome, where he specialized in the history of philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Pontificia Università Gregoriana). In 1950, he was sent to Chile, where he became a philosophy teacher at the Colegio San Ignacio in Santiago. In 1952, he pursued doctoral studies at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and then returned to Rome in 1953 to continue his studies.

In 1954, he was assigned to Brazil, where he became a professor at the Jesuit College of Philosophy in Nova Friburgo, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. For nearly ten years, he taught the history of philosophy, metaphysics, and other philosophical subjects, while preparing generations of young Jesuits for the priesthood.

In 1964, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he continued his teaching career first at the Jesuit Institute of Philosophy and later as a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC–Rio). His lectures focused primarily on the history of philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, and Catholic social philosophy. From 1971 to 1973, he served as a visiting professor in São Paulo; thereafter, he returned to teaching in Rio de Janeiro, where he remained until his death.

His scholarly interests centered on Christian philosophy and the social teaching of the Church. His best-known independent work is the Spanish-language compendium *Las encíclicas sociales*, which presented and interpreted the papal social encyclicals. In addition, he produced university lecture notes on philosophical and theological topics, teaching aids, and shorter studies, primarily for internal use at Jesuit institutions of higher education. According to Brazilian library catalogs and bibliographies, his work has been preserved mainly in publications intended for educational purposes.

He passed away on June 25, 1984, in Rio de Janeiro. He remained an active educator and spiritual director until his death.
